Black Socks: Stinky, Sweaty and Ugly When They are Exposed

Black socks.  Most people own a pair and if you don't, well you are missing out on some laughs especially when you are caught wearing them and stark naked--lol!  I thought of this idea for this entry because well, I was in the mood to do something less serious, less controversial, less spiritual, etc. at my son's request a mere six years old.  Of course, he didn't use those big words but he did say, while praying one day, "Lord, I pray that mom will say something to the people on Facebook and Twitter...that isn't about God sometimes."  Oops!  I have to admit that lately I have been spreading the good news on those sites, so I have slowed down (uh somewhat).  Anyway, back to my thoughts on black socks and black folks.  Oh yeah, there is a connection!

You see I have a long history dealing with black folks and black socks.  The relatives I helped and the men I have dated in the past I had to sometimes endure their stinky, sweaty and ugly black socks.  Oftentimes I said nothing.  I just washed them.  Some socks were expensive designer types and others were cheap like the ones in a dollar or drug store that beckoned someone with a big foot to "just buy me, so I can give you a laugh when your big toe pokes a hole in me."  While separating laundry I would say to myself, "I know this man is not going to put these cheap socks with a hole back on!"  Then I would watch, and what do you know, shoes off and recliner up, that man's holey sock had been worn all day under his nice suit-- can we say, "Tacky!"

Well, when I think of those black socks' memories, I can't help but think how much the color stands out amidst all other socks.  They are available for all to see.  Now if you choose to buy them, it's up to you.  But my point is, black socks like black folks stand out.  Despite the popularity of white socks, black socks make a statement depending on how and where you wear them.  Put them on without clothes and they are laughable.  Buy quality black socks with a little glean to them and wear them with a nice suit and when your pant leg raises up, they are saying something.

Now when we don't buy quality socks, care for them, dress them up with a matching outfit, then they are ugly.  To make matters worse, when we entrust someone else to do what we should be doing with our socks, we might lose a few and they just might not get washed.  Poor black socks just sitting somewhere with no purpose except to smell maybe.

So my point is because you are one of the hues that stand out, made of quality, have purpose, and when people see you, they react to you in some way, know this, that despite whatever flaws you have someone loves you, beyond the skies (sorry son couldn't help myself) and my God has ordered your steps.  Trust Him to handle your dirty laundry.
