Carl Thomas - I Wish (Official Music Video)
It's songs like this that take me back...You look at other people's lives and you feel their pain. Black love can get complicated so fast when you don't know the full story. Don't go into the new year with drama like this. A sad story but one of those classic jams that's chill, enjoy :)
It's a Fight to Appreciate Ignorant White and They Ain't Always Right
When a person has eye-rolled, deep sighed, ignored, or said something offensive to you, it's hard at times to forgive and forget or keep quiet. It can be even more challenging when you have gone through verbal as well as non-verbal battles with ignorant white people who just "don't get you...what's wrong with you people...why do black people always...I never knew that about black people...." Sigh.
What is also a challenge these days for me is dealing with our ignorant kinfolk, who still have the mentality that because someone is "white" they are right, smarter, friendlier, more helpful, patient, or whatever else they have been programmed to believe or their limited personal experiences has suggested. I don't know if that programming has resurfaced because some wealthy blacks are making some good money in investments since this President has been in office, but I digress.
I have trouble appreciating ignorant white people or anyone else that assumes a skin color somehow makes you better. Not that long ago, I told my children I see that you have no problem doing as you are told when your white teachers tell you to do something, but as a black woman, more specifically, your mother, you have issues. My son corrected me, "Oh I don't listen to them either." What!? Yep. My own personal belief had been shattered. "You should be listening to all of us then and doing the right thing," was my response. Funny, how color programming from yesteryear has a way of showing back up again.
Lately, the ignorance has been much, too much! I can't educate or give all these ignorant white people I come across a great experience being in the presence of a black woman such as myself. I get tired and angry sometimes too! Our plate was served to us black women long ago by affluent brothers and sisters who told our generation don't give them white folks anything negative to talk about that reinforces their stereotypical view of our people--represent for all of us well. Burnt out!
Sooner or later the wrong thing is going to be said yet again, you know that. "Rise above it" is what I hear in the spirit. Yes, but it's hard, real hard especially when movies are out there reminding the world once again about blacks, slavery, freedom, and overcoming obstacles while at the same time reminding whites about the power their ancestors wielded over our ancestors and how they can systematically once again use the sins of the pasts to control the future once again. They don't put movies out like Harriett for nothing. Meanwhile, I think of our brown sisters and brothers who may be so inspired to get FREEDOM for themselves while watching that movie--maybe that was a part of a bigger plan, huh?
Yes, it is a challenge dealing with the ignorance all around, but remember as much as they want you to see the so-called "right" in their ways, always keep both eyes open not just one, I see you!

Enslaved to Fame, Fortune, Power - Celebrity Madness Commentary
Why do we bother watching documentaries, music videos, reading writings, observing their art, or even wishing to connect with a favorite celebrity who fell off course? Their objective may have once been the following: to uplift the people, promote beneficial ideas to encourage thinking/creativity/change, empower people economically, heal the wounded soul, etc. But did they really do what they promised? Maybe at first, but not anymore!
Many of you know what your beloved singer, dancer, rapper, actor, athlete, producer, or comedian said publicly that drew you into their matrix. He or she was thought-provoking, motivating, and spoke to your very soul especially during weak times in your life. But something happened along the way, didn't it? Darkness fell upon him or her, their eyes dead and fervor for positively motivating others died too!
Strategically our favorite celebrities were broken down from the inside out by those they trusted as well as themselves. Evil people don't like those of us who speak truth while shedding the light on their broken systems, lifestyles, philosophies, and more! Some of you didn't see the breakdown coming with celebrities over days, months, or even decades! You refused to see how ensnared they were by their drugs and alcohol consumption. Rather you popped bottles and pills too, made it rain at the clubs, acquired much debt, and escaped your misery by doing whatever they did next! You didn't want to believe that a man or woman who spoke so intelligently, could be so stupid! Nope, see no evil, hear no evil, and speak no evil of an individual who is obviously evil! We all at one point or another fed into the lies--wanting so much to believe that these false prophets in the world really meant well. Maybe initially but as we see in their documentaries it all changed when pride, bitterness, resentment, jealousy, greed, and more permeated their minds and then their hearts!
It doesn't matter how big the name or bank account or how attractive, our Creator shows us the fools! He tells us that we shouldn't listen to the false prophet or god! He or she sits with interviewers whether with sunglasses or without and gives a great performance persuading you how enlightened he or she is and what one's "art" means and how they are helping others. Then once the camera and lights are shut off, they go back to dealing with the demons that have him or her enslaved personally and/or professionally. Cheating on spouses, addictions, chronic pain, sexual disease, mental illness, theft, murder, etc.--you name it! You are led like pigs going to the slaughter without a care of how what they say or do might impact you and your family. You buy whatever evildoers sell, because it tickles your ears!
There is indeed a selling of one's soul to the devil whether you choose to believe it or not! It's not conspiracy or cliché contrary to what professional puppeteers say to discredit the truth! The puppet master behind the puppet loves to boast just how free one is creatively, but that isn't the truth! The chains, cages, tattoos, tears and fears expose just how enslaved they really are! If one is so-called free, then that one isn't a superstar yet, give it some time he or she will be emotionally and physically bound one day just like his brothers and sisters in the industry!
The celebrity madness, nervous breakdowns, and repeated visits to "rehab" that we see and read about isn't happenstance. The so-called A-listers are getting older and bolder and some are breaking down just like anyone or thing that has been used over and over again! These people begin to share more of what's on their mind and in their souls. It is quite disturbing to discover just how deep the rabbit hole goes with some of them. Whatever they were willing to do for a dollar when they were younger, they aren't so much willing when they are older. Washed up in every way, they either fade out the limelight quietly or they are persuaded to return "your fans miss you" and if they don't reach monetary goals, there is always a life insurance policy on them that will cover losses when they die.
Oh yes, this is what it has looked like for decades for the ones enslaved to fame, fortune and power: make a grandiose return, perform, then die. They just can't go away from the glitz and glam in peace. They can't sit back and relax long enough to think, "What the f*ck have I done to these people who have followed me and what have I done with my life!"
Oh yes, they surely shared some interesting thoughts that empowered us; however, they failed to take their own advice. Unfortunately, we will see more and more popular celebrities fall on their own swords in the coming years. God don't like ugly! Should have confessed sin and repented.

Thursday Thoughts: Your People Crazy, But You Love Them
When you're busy, you don't think about your people much until they either do something real nice or real stupid. Oh the memories of yesteryear...sometimes they are so powerful that they make you forget and before long you are back to conversing or partying with them. Be careful.
I recall being open to letting some toxic relatives and friends back into my life and I ended up with my share of regrets. It was almost like clock work the demonic was back at it again, picking up where it left off! My kinfolk was saying and doing some messed up things and I became increasingly angry with myself, "How could I let this happen! You know they are good for using and abusing people. Did you think they had changed?"
Yes, crazy relatives, yet we love them. However, there is nothing wrong with loving your once favorites from a distance. There is nothing wrong with establishing boundaries that they are not permitted to cross no matter how threatening the offended relatives might be. You see, some of us had been so caught up in what love was supposed to look like that we got nothing back that came close to our faulty perceptions. We tried to make people love us in the ways that we loved them, but that just wasn't going to happen with crazy folks!
Those crazy-making relatives can't jump inside of you and feel you no matter how much you tell them, "Feel me? What you did was foul!" Nope. They love on a different level most likely beneath you or maybe not at all. What some people call "love" is really "lust" or "like" just so long as you do for them. Conditional love is nothing more than expectations that most people will not meet in this life. People who have been hurt and don't choose to forgive anyone are the worst people to hope/wish/expect them to love you as well as others.
As much as some of you kind-hearted, sweet people who would never hurt a fly want love from certain people, know that sincere love is not based on merits, not conditional, not controlling, not emotionally abusive, not self-serving, and definitely not painful. You may love your toxic people much, but chances are they don't love you back in a functional, healthy way. So don't be surprised when they hurt you once again ad they shouldn't be surprised when you unplug from them again.

Throwback Thursday: Remember When Your Relatives Warned You About "The Man"
Everyday we turn on the television screen or computer, we see our current president, "The Man." Yep, that's him, the one your elders warned you about. He is a tad bit younger than possibly some of them are now, but he still grew up during a time where he saw minorities being oppressed. So he knows about "The Struggle" not just ours, but many other racial groups as well. Now keep that in mind for a minute.
Systematic oppression creates a climate that empowers the favored group over others. While many will think it is just general life challenges that tend to oppress (which they do sometimes); however, these so called mainstream "political, economic, societal, community challenges" have been manufactured in such a way to keep you on the struggle bus not get off it i.e. immigration issues! The tools at any prejudice leaders disposal are those of chains, bars, walls...anything that confines--anything that sends a message around the world, we not only control the people in our land, but yours too--keep out!
There was a time when ignorant biggots thought that coming through the back door will "teach 'em" but stupid them, it took a long time for them to wake up, you can't really see what is going on when you let people in from the back door. They were more concerned with having cheap labor and churning wealth more than anything else! As long as the minorities weren't baby-making like jack rabbits, they were okay, but when a segment of the population started increasing in great numbers this recent decade, uh oh, time to put population control measures in place, talk about reformed immigration, illegal immigrants...Spanish translations popping up everywhere and jobs requiring bilingual speakers...they were really pissed off! Before long, the least favored groups were gaining momentum and still are! They orchestrated movements just like our people did in the past that increased and empowered Latinas and Latinos through the back door here in Amerikkka! Meanwhile the so-called empowered group stagnated. So now they want people to come through the front door so they can keep an eye on them while fortifying the back doors--lol.
Interesting how childhood woes have a way of showing up decades later in older whites--pride, prejudice and pessimism. Like some of us growing up, "The Man" heard the elders talk about "those people...d@mn ni99ers!" now its the "d@mn Hispanics!" Therefore, "The Man" runs the land doing the kinds of things to let "those people" know, "I don't care where you go or what you do, just don't do it here. You're not welcome here!" Of course, hidden prejudice is all guised under safety, security, protection, must be a legal immigrant, etc. I agree it has been a challenge over decades and yes we all have been impacted in some way "se habla Espanola...," but we know better what is happening or do we? One "illegal" immigrant, one detention center, one manufactured tragedy, one day at a time--harassed, processed, booked, and sent on his or her way elsewhere or to the grave. History repeating itself.
Imagine you in office, privileged, wealthy, in a job--the most important in the land! Now take a political issue whether great or small and spin it in a way where you are doing a service for the people while carrying your share of prejudice. Defend your decisions by saying what you are doing or saying isn't really what you are doing and saying (even though when called out on your behaviors you know they set entire groups back rather than progress them forward). Continue to create division while telling the masses you are "helping." Oh yes, "The Man" creates the division while people are too scatter-brained, confused, and used to know the difference between you being of service and you being a royal pain in the you know what! Aren't you glad you aren't "The Man"?
"The Man" he is still covertly or overtly putting his foot on some necks, those that permit it, while giving you and I just enough to make you think he is helping people--how about his favorites? Those select ones who behave themselves and others who don't bother to critically think, they get a bigger piece of the pie. They don't criticize, at least not to his face, they feign gratefulness for that back-breaking job or dirty role where eyes don't see, ears don't hear, and voices don't talk. "Yes" men and women don't ask questions or think, they just do as they are told. You win favor with "The Man" when you do things his way not "our" way. The conversation you have with him is not "I" but it is "we." It is he who is the only one permitted to say "I." Some of you recall slave history when master sick, "We sick," says the perfectly well slaves.
The Man's indoctrination has not gone anywhere! Centuries of mental manipulation on the poor, broke, busted, and disgusted. He has strong drink and drugs for you to ease your sorrows. Cancer causing cigarettes to temporarily cause you to escape your misery (R.I.P. Ma). He offers his affordable fast food to fill your belly because he knows how you get when you're hungry. The last thing he wants is for you to spiritually meditate and fast, so he is sure to get as much entertainment as he can so that you are consumed with your screens. He is still using ministers, doctors, lawyers, and psychologists, law enforcement...to calm you down. By this point you should know that "The Man" is more than a figure head of a country, he is your ultimate adversary above all adversaries seeking who he may kill, steal and destroy--Lucifer/Satan/Beelzebub!
Time to wake up again my friends! A bit of prophecy: watch the news when all hell breaks loose, a day of "wall" reckoning. This isn't your fight for once in your life even though some will be persuaded or tempted to join in, just watch and pray.
