12 Years a Slave and similar movies didn't come out for nothing! Do you get the feeling that someone or a group wants you back in your ancestor's subservient role?
In the video, the speaker says, "To see the farm is to leave it." Many of my ancestors worked fields. Some were slaves, but others would have been considered "free." Decades ago many were land owners and some still are to date. I will tell you that those who eventually left the farming lifestyle behind recognized that it was nothing more than something that reminded them of a difficult past; therefore, they wanted nothing to do with it. However, when my ancestors' children left their farming backgrounds and found alternative ways to make money, they somehow found themselves back in slavery. It wasn't the kind like we saw in the movie, Roots, but it showed up in other ways. There were the controlling spouses that worked them like slaves, the racist bosses who talked to them like slaves, the bitter adult sons and daughters who were mentally trained to be the white man's future slaves, and others who put them back into emotional and/or physical bondage as if they lived on a plantation. How does this happen you might ask? I personally believe that unless a man/woman recognizes one's own short-comings and sees that he or she still has the mentality of a slave, he or she will never be free. Someone, who seeks to obtain the title of "Master," will seek the weak-minded out to be their next slave. The video is a white man's perspective on how enslavement comes into being for all. He compares it to animals on a farm. Be enlightened.
