What's Wrong, What's Right with Our People?

Aren't you tired of having to make excuses for fools, helping stubborn individuals, or pretending as if people are alright in your own family when you know they are not?

For years, I have looked the other way on some things dealing with "our people," because I know that we have been beat up in the media for far too long and are still being portrayed negatively.  I also observed how various systems have abused many of us mentally, physically and spiritually in many ways over the years.  So I, like many other black women, have said positive things about the brothas, whether true or not, in some circles.  We have encouraged the Lazy, The Good-for-Nothing, Stupid, and Crazy even when these folks didn't win our respect.  We have helped these folks from  showering them with compliments to supporting their weak businesses.  However, I'm tired.  I said, it, "I'm tired!!!"  What gives?  How many times will fools keep falling into money traps and looking to women to bail them out?  When will young brothas stop running with the wrong company only to end up in jail or six feet deep?  When will the lying, cheating, eye-rolling, deep sighing, and avoiding the truth stop?  How long, Lord?  How long?  I'm tired of some of our people, especially in mainstream media keep making fools of themselves and then acting as if God gave them some wicked talent.  Stop supporting the sex, lies, mayhem, gossip, and other things that you know you wouldn't sit up and look at with a child or your mother for that matter?

Love and Hate

This business of self-hate is so real and non-blacks are making money marketing this issue around the web--so stop supporting them especially when you don't know the website owner behind the scenes!  I can't tell you how many times I have seen our people act so nice with non-blacks and act ugly with those who love them!  I mean what sense does this make?  A mother looks out for her broke, busted and disgusted son, and she can't even get a Mother's Day card.  A father almost goes to jail trying to see his children, because the mother is mad about one issue or the other--what does that have to do with seeing his kids?  A divorced father mad with the mother strategically looks for ways to keep the black woman out while letting the white lawyer, white girlfriend/wife, and white establishment handle all his business.  Then you have those who embrace all things non-black or hate anything not black!  What gives?

Trust

Our people are some fickle folks!  Today they will love you, then tomorrow they won't.  They will play these "I'm so broke" games, but suddenly money shows up when they really want or need something.  Some are jealous, angry, and often think that someone is up to something even when the evidence shows there are no games being played.  Some black folks need love too!  There are those who can be trusted!

Business

I literally sat and cried when I clicked on website after website of black businesses that are now 404s! There is no trace that any of these sites ever existed.  I was disappointed to see all these "likes" from people who could care less about us and have been selling out for years.  I also noticed the many rags to riches stories and saw the one eye and pyramids here there on a local, national and international level not just with mainstream celebrities either!  It is sickening!

That's what's wrong!  Now what is right?

Everyday our people are being awakened to truth in all it's forms!  Mental, physical and spiritual truth has been manifesting for a long time now, and some are actually doing something productive with their knowledge.  Others are breaking away from toxic "in the box" family and friends.  They are learning about things like going "No Contact" and leaving their pasts behind.  Others are not running into the arms of non-blacks as they begin their quest to find themselves.  They are welcoming all things black while living in a white world.  There are blacks who love self--sometimes too much which gets them in trouble with their heavenly Father, because they are not Him!

Contrary to what mainstream media wants to brainwash the world about African Americans with, many of us are doing just fine, thank you!  We are still working our businesses or working for others, raising children under the fear and admonition of the one true God (not Lucifer), attending worship services on or offline, we are caring for the sick, investing and donating finances, and many of us have long been keeping young children off the street. We all aren't supporting the god of Hip Hop and all his poisonous lyrics and we all don't like or care about pimp preachers, scantily dressed musicians, drug dealers, trouble-making children, and ghetto folks who think they know it all!

Rebellious, stubborn, sexually confused folks, drunks, drug addicts, and gambling buffoons are not what the truly conscious blacks are applauding or associating with despite what you have heard.  There are still biblical precepts and they will be followed.  We will not be bullied or have others' agendas shoved down our throats.  I know I watched reality TV foolishness in the real world since I was a child, and I'm tired of seeing it on TV, so I shut the idiot box off when mentally sick and stupid folks come on.  If you are tired too, hit big business where it hurts, switch those channels!

So as much as the media would like to paint a broad stroke of someone or group's agenda and market it all around the world, take heed what you see isn't always what you get.  Tread softly when you regurgitate what you saw or heard to an African American and don't assume that media propaganda is an accurate portrayal of all of us, because it is not!
